I was shocked to learn my dog is related to Queen’s corgis
All in the family.
A dog owner has discovered that her pup is a brother of the late Queen Elizabeth’s own corgis.
Nadia Smith, 28, received a corgi puppy — named Wilbur — in February 2021 and saw a Facebook group post about the monarch’s dog Muick.
Smith did some digging and claims that both dogs came from the same breeder.
“I was in shock when I realized,” Smith, told the Independent on Monday. “I originally thought it was a weird coincidence.”
She continued: “You never think anything like this will happen to you. It’s such a strange way to be connected to her.”
Queen Elizabeth’s funeral was held Monday, 11 days after her passing on Sept. 8 at the age of 96. Her pets were seen at Windsor Castle saying their final goodbyes to their beloved monarch.
Smith also noted how she and her partner have a special place in their hearts for corgis because of the sovereign. “From seeing her with all her corgis, we thought if they’re good enough for her, they’re good enough for us,” she said.
“With her passing, it’s so surreal, you somehow never think it’ll actually happen. Everything stood still,” she added.
Smith also revealed how when she went to pick up Wilbur from the breeder, she even had an encounter with Muick.
“We held the queen’s actual corgi — and we own his brother!” she exclaimed. “ ‘The queen’s dog chewed my shoelaces’ is not something you ever expect to say!”
Elizabeth had a big passion for corgis, owning many dogs throughout her 70-year reign. Her love for the breed goes back to her early childhood when she specifically requested a Pembroke Welsh corgi in 1933 at the age of 7.
Her son Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson will now take over the care of her corgis.
The Duke of York, 62, was spotted petting two of her dogs after the funeral service.

The corgis were waiting for Elizabeth outside the residence following the funeral services on Monday, and Andrew was seen comforting them.
The Duchess of York reportedly bonded with the animals during their walks and is happy to take them on, according to the Telegraph.
