Iga Swiatek into Coco Gauff quarter-final at French Open after Lesia Tsurenko retires
Iga Swiatek moved into the French Open quarter-finals after opponent Lesia Tsurenko retired during the first set.
Tsurenko was treated by medical staff when trailing 4-1, with the Ukrainian having her blood pressure and pulse taken. Although she returned to the court, she pulled out after being broken to love.

The Pole was coming off a near-faultless double-bagel victory over Wang Xinyu in the third round on Saturday, while Tsurenko was only marginally less impressive in a 6-1 6-1 win over Bianca Andreescu.
Despite that win, the Ukrainian was the clear underdog against the in-form world No. 1, one of the obvious favourites to win at Roland-Garros this year.
The 34-year-old, who was in the fourth round in Paris for just the second time in her career, betrayed signs of injury at 4-0 down in the first set.
At 4-1 up, Tsurenko called out the doctors as she had her blood pressure taken as she discussed her chances of carrying on, with her challenge ending one game later.
Swiatek had already beaten Tsurenko at last month’s Italian Open, but the 22-year-old Pole had to retire at the quarter-final stages with a thigh injury.
