I’m working on movie and reality TV show
Lying former Rep. George Santos claims he’s too busy to get back into politics – because he’s making a movie documentary and wants to be reality TV star.
“I’m working on a movie – a documentary – and also a reality TV show,” the fact-challenged Republican told City & State. “So there’s just so many things that I’m working on now that I prefer to engage in instead of going into a messy primary to take on [Democratic Rep.] Tom Suozzi.”
Suozzi last month won a special election to serve the remainder of Santos’ term serving New York’s 3rd Congressional District in suburban Nassau County and part of northern Queens after Santos became the sixth member of Congress ever to be expelled.
The seat is up for grabs again in this November’s general election.
Santos was bounced from Congress with much of his own party’s blessing in the wake of a blistering report from the House Committee on Ethics alleging he “blatantly stole from his campaign” and lied to donors.
Santos had long been under fire after revelations emerged in late 2022 that he fabricated large swaths of his backstory.
He was also slapped with a roughly 23-count indictment last year for wire fraud, making materially false statements to the FEC, aggravated identity theft, falsifying records and more.
The move to reality TV has long seemed like good move for Santos – despite his inability to keep it real, according to insiders.
“The truth is, this man never belonged in Congress; he belongs on Bravo,” comedian John Oliver proclaimed on his HBO show “Last Week Tonight” shortly after Santos’s expulsion was announced.
Oliver’s wasn’t the only one who thinks so.
“I would be surprised if [Santos] wasn’t already in talks about something,” casting director and former MTV reality star Jason Cornwell told The Post in a December interview. “Somebody’s gonna grab him and lock him into a contract and then figure it out from there.”
