India v England: First Test – Day Two in Hyderabad live as England look to make inroads into India line-up
India 234-4 (Rahul 65, Jadeja 1) England 246 Overs: 51
Rahul makes width for himself with some clever footwork and punches Rehan away for a square cut for four. He gets off strike next ball with a quick single, which will be another feature with the rapid Jadeja out there alongside him in the middle.
England sense a sniff at short leg as Jadeja turns around the corner, but that would have been an absolute worldy had he held it, and Rahul makes it a ten run over with a sweep to the rope to finish it up.
India 224-4 (Rahul 56, Jadeja 0) England 246 Overs: 54
England have started nicely with the ball here in the session, with Leach putting together another tidy over that goes for just the one single.
New batter Ravindra Jadeja hasn’t been in peak form of late, but he’s still a class act, particularly against spin. He averages just a nudge under 40 in home conditions.
WICKET! India 223-4 (Rahul 55, Jadeja 0) England 246 Overs: 53
Shreyas Iyer caught Tom Hartley bowled Rehan Ahmed for 35 (63b)
It’s a wicket maiden, and a first scalp of the game for Rehan, who tempts Shreyas with a lofted googly and gets his man, with Hartley holding on to a lofted sweep in the deep. England are jubilant, and they’ve got a chance to get stuck into this lower middle order now.
India won’t sweat just yet. Having three genuine spinning all-rounders in the XI gives them a lot of batting depth.
India 223-3 (Rahul 55, Shreyas 35) England 246 Overs: 52
Jack Leach was strangely under bowled in the first session, but he has the ball in his hand here and almost picks up a wicket in his first over of the afternoon, getting an under-edge off Rahul that somehow evades the off stump.
Fascinating Test action elsewhere
Not that I’m trying to push you straight into another match, but West Indies have Australia in a spot of bother right now at the Gabba, and it’s live right now on TNT Sports 3.
After a flurry from the lower order helped them reach 311, West Indies have reduced the Aussies to 24-4 at the start of their first innings.

India 222-3 (Rahul 55, Shreyas 34) England 246 Overs: 51
Rehan Ahmed takes the ball for the start of the second session, and begins with a maiden, including one absolute ripper that has Rahul beaten all ends up as it turns past the outside edge.
That is England’s first maiden of the day, which tells you a little bit about a first session that saw runs come at a reasonable lick.

06:35 – The story of the first session
It’s been an intriguing start to the second day’s play, with England breaking the overnight partnership but India recovering with a solid partnership.
Joe Root, bowling for the first time in the innings in the first over of the day, picked up the prized wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal early, with the opener departing for 80 from 74, caught and bowled.
And Tom Hartley got his first wicket in Tests when Gill had a bit of a hack and was caught by Ben Duckett for 23 from 66.
But India have recovered well, with KL Rahul unbeaten on 55* and Shreyas Iyer out there with him on 34*.
The home team will resume on 222-3, just 24 runs behind and with a big chance to build a sizeable first-innings lead.
