Influencer Em Davies under fire for post about ‘pot’ brownie before Bali flight

Influencer Em Davies has found herself in hot water after polling her followers in an Instagram Story about eating a marijuana brownie before a flight to Bali.

The Perth, Australia-based Venem clothing founder posted a picture of herself and a friend in the car on the way to the airport earlier this week, holding a packaged brownie.

“Are we going to regret eating this weed brownie on our way to the airport?” the caption read, alongside a “yes” or “no” poll.

The Story was reportedly deleted within minutes, but not quickly enough: influencer watchdog Celeb Spellcheck took a screenshot and posted it to their 239,000 followers.

“Em D(MA) & Lil Brownie,” they captioned the screen grab, alluding to the fact the brownie was potentially laced with marijuana.

Dozens of the account’s followers swarmed the comments, with many pointing out that Schapelle Corby spent nine years in the Indonesian province’s infamous Kerobokan prison for smuggling marijuana into the tourist hotspot in a boogie board bag.

“Shapelle (sic) Corby is screaming,” one wrote.

Em Davies posted this photo to Instagram but quickly took it down.

“Lmao did they forget Border Force have drug dogs?” commented another, while a third wrote, “Lmao the biggest flog in the world I’m sure the Indonesian government would be less than impressed if they’re coming through after eating that.”

Others declared that Davies’ behavior gave them “second hand embarrassment” and that they “couldn’t think of anything more stressful – ever”.

A number of people also questioned whether Davies had meant to share the Story with her Close Friends only, instead of on her public profile.

“Some things are best left off the internet,” one person concluded.

“This was meant for Close Friends, surely?”

News.com.au has contacted Davies for comment.

It’s not the first time Davies has been called out by the account for publicly sharing a photo with her 368,000 followers when it was probably only intended for a small few.

Last year Celeb Spellcheck shared a Snapshot screenshot that allegedly showed Davies admitting to doing drugs prior to boarding a flight.

“Sickkkk don’t have my ID on me coz I did lines w it all weekend. Now can’t get on my flight bc it links to an international so have to wait four hours to get another one :),” the accompanying text of the picture, which allegedly featured a filtered image of Davies, read.

Davies seemingly called out the scrutiny she received following Celeb Spellcheck’s sharing of the image, regramming a friend’s Story that read: “I thought we learnt young to treat others the way we wish to be treated.”

“It’s so sad how much time and energy people waste ripping on other people, mostly online and about the things they do themselves,” the Story read.

“How skewed is that? Contributing to situations that are detrimental to a person’s mental health is simply uncool.

“Why is being kind seeming so underrated these days?”
