Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold adds women’s 4×6 relay to men’s triumph for Norway in Ruhpolding, Germany

Norway were composed and consistent as they won the women’s 4×6 relay in Ruhpolding on Saturday to add to Friday’s men’s success.

The German crowd had something to cheer as Germany surged into second on the final lap, with Italy completing the podium.

Sweden missed out on a women’s relay podium for the first time this season after a disastrous shooting performance, recovering from 17th to eventually finish seventh.

Lou Jeanmonnot shot perfectly to put France in the lead at the first exchange, 4.5 seconds ahead of Switzerland with Norway in third, just ahead of Austria.

Overall World Cup leaders Sweden dropped down to 17th after the second shooting stage as Mona Brorsson picked up a penalty.

The second exchange saw the same top three, but France had opened up a 27-second gap on Italy thanks to another perfect shooting performance by Chloe Chevalier.

Sophie Chauveau became the first French athlete to make a mistake, missing three shots in the prone section before picking up two penalties at the standing shoot to tumble down to sixth, their final position in the standings.

Marte Olsbu Roeiseland took advantage, moving into the lead at the third exchange with Italy 29.2 seconds behind as Germany made it onto the provisional podium.

Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold entered the shooting range with a mammoth lead and each of her perfect shots was cheered by the German crowd as she headed off on the final lap with a 42-second lead over Dorothea Wierer of Italy.

Germany embarked on the final lap just a second behind Italy, which was not a big enough gap to deter Denise Hermann-Wick, who eventually came home 18.2 seconds ahead of Italy.

Tandrevold’s only error was to fail to collect the Norwegian flag on her de facto victory lap as she was joined by teammates Roeiseland, Ragnhild Femsteinevik, and Karoline Offigstad Knotten.

There is only one more relay before the World Championships in Oberhof in February with action moving to Antholz-Anterselva in Italy next weekend.
