‘It is f****** stupid’ – Alexander Bublik’s expletive rant in defeat to Stan Wawrinka at ATP 500 event in Rotterdam

Alexander Bublik made more headlines for his on-court antics following his expletive-laden rant in his defeat to Stan Wawrinka at the ATP 500 event in Rotterdam.

Bublik was beaten in straight sets by Wawrinka and entered into a foul-mouthed tirade with the umpire with the latter 4-3 up in the second set.

He said: “I’m complaining how stupid this f****** sport is, because it is f******* stupid. Playing tennis is a headache.”

This was already Wawrinka’s second win over Bublik this year after also emerging triumphant over the Kazakhstani in the United Cup.

The Swiss player, ranked 130 in the world, was unable to take advantage of a set point late in the first set and led to a tie-break.

Bublik was unable to take advantage of a mini-break in hand and Wawrinka was able to win on his next set point, drawing first blood in the contest.

The second set was ultimately more comfortable for Wawrinka, who managed to overcome his doubles partner in his singles opener.

This was Bublik’s second outburst in less than a week, as he smashed three racquets in a first round defeat to Gregoire Barrere in Montpellier.

He entered the Open Sud de France as reigning champion, and took the match to a decisive third set after losing the first.

It all started to unravel for the world No. 50 after moving 4-2 in front.

He had three double faults and fell 6-0 behind in the tie-break, subsequently smashing his racquet five times.
