It’s ‘overkill,’ Rolling Stone says

It’s not easy being Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly in their “flop era” — or so says Rolling Stone magazine, noting that Markle, 41, and Harry, 38, have had a string of failed deals recently, such as losing out on their $20 million Spotify contract.

“Part of the issue the Sussexes are currently facing is that they have made their brand about their beef with the royal family. Now, their feud has reached a stalemate and it feels like there isn’t much more to say,” the outlet penned.

The pair decided to take a step back as senior royal family members in January 2020 and they later moved out of the United Kingdom and into a mansion in Montecito, California.

Since their exit, the two have released several tell-all projects that detailed the pain they felt while part of the royal family.

This included a Netflix doc titled “Harry & Meghan,” a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey and Harry’s 400-page memoir “Spare.”

“The Sussexes are in a difficult position: appetite is waning for content about their rift with the royal institution because digesting it in so many different formats now feels like overkill,” the publication went on.

They added: “But there isn’t much enthusiasm for their other projects, like the ‘Archetypes’ podcast, which aren’t about that.”

The former actress’ “Archetypes” podcast was not renewed for a second season.

The two have also allegedly blamed the crumbling of their media empire on bad luck, the Daily Mail recently noted. Insiders revealed that the couple feels “repeatedly unlucky” with their fruitless projects.

However, despite their agreement with the music streaming platform being axed, their contract with Netflix is still going strong.

The duo signed an estimated $100 million deal with the streamer back in 2021.

“Harry & Meghan” was released last December and they will be dropping a new doc about the Invictus Games next month.

A Netflix spokesperson recently told Entertainment Tonight — via The Mirror — that “the bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. ‘Harry & Meghan’ launched as Netflix’s most spectacular documentary debut to date.”

“Our exciting journey with them isn’t ending anytime soon,” they said. “We’re currently collaborating on numerous projects, including the much-anticipated documentary series ‘Heart of Invictus.’”
