Jack Chen says wife Yue Yu has history abusing him, two kids: court docs

The California dermatologist who allegedly poisoned her doctor husband has a long history of mistreating him and their two children — once yelling at the young kids to “go die,” her estranged spouse claimed.

Jack Chen outlined a long list of alleged disturbing behavior by wife Yue “Emily” Yu in a statement to the court seeking a restraining order against her Friday. He is also seeking a divorce after being married for ten years.

“When Emily gets frustrated and yells at the children, she’ll commonly use a Chinese phrase that translates to ‘go die!’ She also says to the children, ‘your head has a problem, ‘your head is sick, ‘go f–k yourself,’ ‘f–-ing idiot,’ ‘stupid a–hole,’ and ‘get the f–k out of my way,’” Chen wrote in the court document obtained by The Post.

Yu was arrested Thursday after she was accused of trying to poison her husband by putting Drano in his hot lemonade on multiple occasions. Chen apparently caught Yu in the act on video using a nanny cam, according to the court documents.

A snapshot from video footage was collected by husband Jack Chen, who set up a nanny cam in the kitchen that captured Yu allegedly putting Drano in his drink at least three times in July.

No charges have been filed yet in the case, though Chen was granted a temporary restraining order against his wife.

Chen, who is a radiologist, said he and his wife met in 2011 and then married on July 4, 2012. But his wife’s behavior became concerning after their two children were born in 2013 and 2014, he said. Yu’s mother, Yuqin “Amy” Gu, also joined in the alleged verbal and physical abuse, he added.

“Almost daily I would be insulted by Amy saying I ‘act like a thug’ and I ‘don’t act like a man.’ Emily would call me a ‘f—-ing a—hole’ and other insults,” he said.

“As early as two-years-old Emily and Amy were verbally and then physically abusive to [our son and daughter] which intensified as they grew older,” he said. “They are both verbally and physically abusive to me.”

Chen’s attorney said they suspect his wife’s behavior had been going on for months.

Some of the alleged abuse toward the couple’s kids includes Yu spanking her daughter when she was 3-years-old after she wet the bed and hitting her son when he was only 2-years-old on his head and arms, Chen said.

Yu even deprived the children, now 8 and 7, of sleep if they went to bed before she wanted them to, Chen alleged.

“When the kids fall asleep without permission, even if after 11:00 p.m. she would wake them up, demand that [they] go to her room, shut the door and make them cry,” he said. “At the end sometimes she would tell the kids to get out and then slam the door behind them, making them cry outside her door.”

Chen said the children couldn’t even show affection toward him without Yu screaming at them. His daughter won’t even play tennis with her father or take a photo with him for fear of Yu’s explosive temper, he added.

Yu’s attorney told has denied all claims of his client’s alleged abuse.

The children have little contact with friends or other family members, Chen said.

“Our children learned Emily’s rule is everything,” he said. “I am ignored and not recognized as a family member.”

Yu transferred the children out of one school in 2021 after a teacher questioned if their son had ADHD, Chen said. When the son began beating up other students at the new school, Gu, the mother-in-law, explained the bad behavior away as him having “high energy,” he said.

“When they get home Amy yells at them, calls them stupid, and demands [our son] come up with ‘better excuses’ for his bad behavior,” Chen said.

When the daughter was practicing the piano, Yu would relentlessly call her “f—king stupid.”

Dr. Yue "Emily" Yu, 45
Yu, 45, is affiliated with Providence Mission Hospital, which issued a statement noting her arrest while saying staffers were cooperating with authorities.

“Finally, [our daughter] cried and told Emily she can’t say ‘f—ing.’” Chen alleged. “Emily hit [our daughter] on the arm told her she was is ‘f—ing stupid!

“Amy came over and told [our daughter] there are some words that only adults and not kids can say, so Emily is right to do what she is doing.”

And when the son played the piano, Yu was once so unhappy she yelled at him and called him a “f—ing idiot!’” Chen said. “She yelled so loud and so close to [our son] that she was spitting on him and made him cry.”

If the two siblings ever express their feelings or say they are sad, “Emily and Amy will yell at them saying ‘you are so ugly, you look like a pig’ or tell [our son] ‘you are a sissy,’” Chen said.

Yu’s attorney told The Post his client denied poisoning her husband or abusing him and her children.
