Jakara Anthony and Walter Wallberg claim moguls World Cup wins

Australia’s Jakara Anthony and Sweden’s Walter Wallberg claimed moguls victory in plunging temperatures in Val St. Come in Canada.

Anthony earned her fifth consecutive win to make it seven from eight this season with a stunning run in the final. She is now one of six skiers to have ever won five World Cup races in a row, joining Perrine Laffont, Hannah Kearney, Jennifer Heil, Aiko Uemura, and Donna Weinbrecht.

The victory never looked in doubt, as she dominated from the qualification through the first round of finals before a stunning run in the super final.

The Australian took gold with 82.01 points, more than seven points ahead of her closest competitors, for her first-ever triumph at the Canadian resort.

USA’s Jaelin Kauf won silver with 74.87 points and bronze went to Hinako Tomitaka of Japan.

Anthony leads the single moguls standings with a perfect score of 500 points, ahead of Kauf in second on 290 points, and needs just one more win to secure the Crystal Globe.

In the overall standings, Anthony is also top on 760 points, with Kauf more than 300 points behind in second.

In the men’s competition, Wallberg profited from Mikael Kinsbury’s crash in the first round.

The Swede had a perfect day and won with 84.92 points. Elliot Vaillancourt of France made his second World Cup podium, with the top three rounded out by Filip Gravenfors.
