James Maddison completes move to Tottenham Hotspur from relegated Leicester City for reported £40m
Tottenham have completed the signing of England international James Maddison from Leicester for a fee reported to be in the region of £40m.
Maddison, 26, only had a year left on his contract at Leicester, who were relegated to the Championship in the final game of last season.
“We are delighted to announce the signing of James Maddison from Leicester City,” read a statement from Tottenham’s official website.

“The England international has agreed a deal with the club that will run until 2028.”
Despite Leicester’s woes in the Premier League last term, the midfielder still managed 10 goals and nine assists.
Since swapping Norwich for the Foxes in 2018, Maddison has scored 55 goals in 203 appearances, registering 41 assists.
A statement from Leicester read: “Since his debut in August 2018, James has been a key figure for City – a major attacking influence that helped the Club to consecutive top-five Premier League finishes in 2019/20 and 2020/21, along with Emirates FA Cup and Community Shield successes.
“He departs with the best wishes of everyone at Leicester City.”
Tottenham finished last season in a disappointing eighth position, subsequently missing out on European football, but have since appointed former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou as manager.
Maddison has played three times for England, starting his first game in the 2-0 win over Ukraine in Euro 2024 qualifying last March.
He made his senior international debut against Montenegro in November 2019, and was selected in the Three Lions squad for the World Cup in Qatar.
