Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan share new hope for ‘Freaky Friday’ sequel

Making good choices?

Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan say they’re willing to star in a “Freaky Friday” sequel 20 years after their remake of the 1976 comedy delighted legions of millennials.

The pair spoke about the 2003 movie’s legacy in a conversation published Wednesday by the New York Times, saying they would gladly reprise their roles as a mother-daughter duo who magically switched bodies and gained perspective into each other’s struggles.

“As I went around the world with ‘Halloween Ends,’ people wanted to know if there was going to be another ‘Freaky Friday.’ Something really touched a chord,” Curtis, 64, said about promoting her 2022 slasher film.

“When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made.’”

Curtis revealed her call to the Mouse House in October.

“Well, she’s gotta be a grandma. I mean, I gotta be a grandma,” Curtis brainstormed with “Entertainment Tonight” about a plot to a potential sequel.

“And just watching Lindsay try to be a grandma makes me laugh, and then me being a grandma trying to take care of toddlers makes me laugh, so, I’m assuming it’ll be something, or it won’t be anything, we don’t even know yet,” she added.

Lohan echoed that sentiment in November to Jimmy Fallon, telling the late-night host: “We would both be into it.”

In February, Curtis once again sparked excitement when she claimed a sequel “is going to happen.”

“Jamie and I are both open to that, so we’re leaving it in the hands that be,” Lohan, 36, told the Times. “We would only make something that people would absolutely adore.”

The actresses’ wishes may come true as Disney has confirmed that a sequel is in development with Elyse Hollander (“It Was Romance”) writing the screenplay.

Curtis and Lohan are in talks to return, a Disney spokesperson confirmed to The Post.

The Post has contacted reps for Lohan and Curtis for comment.

Lohan and Curtis, who have remained friends over the past two decades, also recalled their memories of their first meeting to the Times.

“Jamie showed up with such an infectious personality that set the tone for the whole day,” Lohan recounted.

“She immediately took me under her wing. I was so nervous to do my first kiss on camera, so she talked to me in my trailer and made it funny so that I wouldn’t stress about it.”

For her part, Curtis revealed that she was only cast after another actress dropped out.

“I was in the middle of a book tour when my agent called. An actress had been involved in the movie and chose not to do it; I was a replacement part,” she recalled.

“That was Thursday. I read the script on Friday, flew home on Saturday, had my hair dyed red Sunday, and was working Monday — with a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old at home, playing a 15-year-old.”

“Had I had all the time in the world to prepare, I don’t think it would’ve been so good. I just had to be in my body,” Curtis admitted.

“I was also newly sober, and I was able to have a community within the movie-work world,” she added. “That was a big deal for me.”

Lohan, meanwhile, is pregnant with her first child with her husband, Bader Shammas.
