Sinner produced a superb performance on his serve and won the match in one hour and 21 minutes after not facing a single break point against Tsitsipas.
He won 89 per cent of his first serve points and was able to take advantage of three of his four break points.
“I’m very happy. I played some good tennis, and I was very focussed today. Hopefully I can keep it going but for sure, Stef is an incredible player. I have a lot of respect for him. He played incredible tennis this year already.
“I was looking forward to this match to be honest, after my win yesterday already. So, I’m very happy about my performance today.”
While Sinner could not have wished for a more comprehensive victory, the Italian admits he still has some way to go to make further way into a 2-5 head-to-head record in the Greek’s favour.
“Head-to-head I am still far back to him,” he explained.
“For me this is a very important win. I lost a tough one in Australia, where I felt like I was playing great. Today I was also playing good.”
Up next is an intriguing match-up with Stan Wawrinka in the quarter-finals on Friday.
The Swiss beat Richard Gasquet 6-3 6-3 on Wednesday, in what has been a hugely impressive tournament for the 37-year-old. He is yet to drop a set or serve after two matches.
“I’m very happy that he is playing again at a very, very high level,” Sinner added.
“I played last year at Wimbledon against him. He has improved a lot from that point. I know him quite well. He is a hard worker. It’s going to be a tough march for sure.”
World No. 9 Holger Rune retired 4-6 0-4 down to home favourite Gijs Brouwer.
