Jenna Bush Hager confessed to nude beach trip amid dad’s presidential bid
The conservative former First Daughter had no problem showing off her body.
On Wednesday’s episode of “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” host Jenna Bush Hager revealed that she went to a nude beach in Spain at the age of 18 while on a study abroad trip.
The 41-year-old daughter of former President George W. Bush and co-host Hoda Kotb were initially discussing the style resurgence of the skimpy Speedo swimsuit, which has become synonymous with European beaches in popular culture.
Hager noted that Europe was full of beaches where nudity is permitted and Speedos were a hot commodity.
“Some would argue it never went away, because if you go to the beaches of Europe, which I haven’t been to in awhile — Speedos or no Speedos, there are a lot of nude beaches in Europe,” Hager said, according to People.
Kotb, 58, recalled her own accidental encounter with a nude beach — and her brother in tow. “It was embarrassing,” she said of the mortifying experience as a young woman, noting that her upbringing was “super strict.”
“First of all, you’re with your brother and you want to die right there. We were like, ‘What’s going on!?’ We just couldn’t believe what we were seeing.”
That’s when Kotb turned to Hager, asking if she’d ever skinny-dipped.
Having established her expertise in sordid sunbathing, Hager also had some tips for stripping and disrobing in the hot sun.
“Bring extra sunscreen if you’re going. At the time, it feels fun and free. But wear extra protection — sunscreen, that is — because the sun hits in parts you’ll never see,” she suggested to NBC watchers.
Hager also follows a “no underwear policy,” as she hilariously claimed on the morning show last year that she doesn’t like to wear undergarments.
She confessed that not sporting underwear “makes a more pretty silhouette!”
“I also think you don’t have to pack as much. There’s a lot of pros to it!” she said, before playfully reprimanding Kotb for spilling her secrets in front of the live studio audience.
