Jennifer Lawrence told Robert De Niro to leave her wedding

Jennifer Lawrence asked Robert De Niro to leave her October 2019 wedding to Cooke Maroney after she deemed the conditions to be too similar to the Hunger Games.

While chatting on the red carpet with “E! News” at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards, the 33-year-old actress revealed that her wedding became super “stressful” when the weather at the reception was less than desirable, causing the “No Hard Feelings” star to worry about her guests.

“It’s so stressful,” she recalled. “You’re not having fun. You’re just like, ‘Is that person having fun?’”

Lawrence also joked that being a bride is “awful.”

“I’ll never forget, I was freaking out about the guests being cold,” she revealed. “And all of my friends were lying they’re like, ‘Nobody’s cold, nobody’s cold, everything’s fine, everything’s fine.’”

Lawrence’s mother, Karen, however, did not go along with the charade.

“My mom was like, ‘It’s freezing out there, your grandmother almost died,” she explained.

Lawrence and Maroney held a wedding reception for their 150 guests at the Belcourt of Newport, a beautiful and luxurious mansion in Rhode Island.

Designed in 1894 by world-renowned American architect Richard Morris Hunt, the estate was inspired by the hunting lodge of France’s King Louis XIII at Versailles.

The star-studded guest list included Adele, Amy Schumer, Kris Jenner, Emma Stone, Ashley Olsen, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Cameron Diaz, Sienna Miller and De Niro, 80, with whom she co-starred in 2012’s “Silver Linings Playbook,” 2013’s “American Hustle” and 2015’s “Joy.”

Lawrence began to worry specifically about De Niro’s well-being during her rehearsal dinner.

“I looked over and I saw Bob, who doesn’t know anybody and he’s kind of wandering around, and I immediately was like, ‘No, this isn’t what he wants to be doing. I don’t want him here,’” the Oscar winner explained.

“So I went over and whispered, I was like, ‘Go home,’ and he was nice,” Lawrence said. “He like talked to my parents and was polite — but I was like, ‘Go.’”

After his departure, she “genuinely” felt “better.”
