Jennifer Lopez on meeting Ben Affleck on disastrous ‘Gigli’ set

Not even “Gigli” can stop her.

Jennifer Lopez is down to create another love story on screen with husband Ben Affleck.

The “Maid in Manhattan” star, 54, and the “Argo” director, 51, infamously starred in the 2003 box office bomb “Gigli.” Despite the rom-com being not-so well-received, it led to the longtime couple’s relationship as they met on set.

The “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer looked back on the film and other past roles in a sit-down interview with Variety.

Lopez looked back on her famous film lines with “Variety.” Variety

“The first time meeting him on that film was at the read-through,” Lopez said.

“They did a read-through of the whole thing and I remember kind of just walking in and I think he was outside, smoking a cigarette and I saw him and we just talked for, like, a minute and then I sat down and we did the read-through,” she went on.

“I don’t remember a whole bunch more about it, but I remember being on the set with him every day and loving it.” The singer was married to her second husband, backup dancer Cris Judd, at the time.

When asked if she would ever make a movie with Affleck again, she revealed she’s “open” to the idea.

“I don’t know, in the right thing, maybe, in the right thing. I mean, we love working together and being together, so maybe,” Lopez added.

The Martin Brest-directed project chronicled Affleck as a dumb hitman (Larry Gigli) who is tasked with kidnapping the brother of a prominent district attorney. Lopez starred as his female mobster accomplice.

“Gigli” starred Lopez, Affleck, Al Pacino, Justin Bartha and Christopher Walken.

In July 2002, Lopez filed for divorce from Judd and got engaged to the Dunkin’ fanatic that same year. They’d go on to reunite in the 2004 film “Jersey Girl.”

Due to the intense media circus surrounding their relationship — even earning the nickname “Bennifer” — they split and called off their wedding in 2004.

“Jennifer and I happened to be together at a time where the whole industry of celebrity journalism, if you want to call it that, sort of exploded,” Affleck told best friend Matt Damon for Entertainment Weekly in January 2022. “But I thought, ‘S–t, this is really not how I had hoped to go, where I’m going to be, what? Famous for being an a–hole or a failure and not able to work?’”

Nearly two decades later — and after their respective marriages and divorces from Marc Anthony and Jennifer Garner — they got back together.

In July 2022, the couple tied the knot in Las Vegas and later had a second ceremony at the Oscar winner’s Georgia estate.

“So how do you know your last wedding is it?” veteran Variety reporter Marc Malkin asked Lopez at the 2024 Golden Globes in January.

“Because when they say you know, you know,” Lopez replied. “And other times when you didn’t know, you also didn’t know.”

“I think you always go in with the best of intentions every single time that you ever leap into anything,” the Grammy winner added. “I do anyway, not just in my personal life but in my professional life, too.”

Although the two have yet to sign a new blockbuster deal, they recently worked together on Lopez’s Amazon Prime Video movie, “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story,” which accompanies Lopez’s ninth studio album, “This Is Me… Now.”

Lopez will also be hitting the road soon, as she announced This Is Me… Now The Tour on Thursday.
