‘Jeopardy!’ contestants stumped by lack of Taylor Swift knowledge
Taylor Swift fans are “Masterminds” that even “Jeopardy!” contestants can’t beat.
Tuesday night’s “Jeopardy!” episode had a Final Jeopardy question that not a single contestant could get — but that any Swiftie would’ve known immediately.
The clue, which was in the “Literary Groups” category, read: “Windermere, Thirlmere & Grasmere are 3 of the sites that helped give a 19th-century literary group this name.”
The answer was, “What is the Lake Poets?” Two-day champion Diandra D’Alessio, Nathan Dennis and Ilhana Redzovic all guessed incorrectly.
Contestants on the game show were put at a loss by the question, but fans of Taylor Swift were pointing out that they knew the answer thanks to the singer.
Swift, 33, has a song called “the lakes” on the deluxe version of her eighth studio album “Folklore” which is about going to the Lakes district with her love/”muse” and leaving the rest of the world behind.
Lyrics to the bonus track include: “Take me to the lakes where all the poets went to die / I don’t belong, and my beloved, neither do you” and “Those Windermere peaks look like a perfect place to cry / I’m setting off, but not without my muse.”
The song references both the sites and poets that were part of the Final Jeopardy question and answer, and Swifties took to Twitter to share their knowledge.
“Me swearing up and down for some reason I know the jeopardy final clue. And can’t figure out why…Taylor swift is why,” one person tweeted. “The Lakes talks about Windermere peaks and she talks about the poets going there to die.”
“Did I just know final Jeopardy because of The Lakes by @taylorswift13?! Yes I did. Aren’t you proud @taylornation13,” another wrote.
“I only got Final Jeopardy right because of the song The Lakes by Taylor Swift. Don’t tell me she’s not an educator!” a fan quipped.
“Ty @taylorswift13 for the hint for tonight’s final jeopardy (hint:the lakes),” someone else thanked the pop star.
“thank you @taylorswift13 for helping me win final jeopardy tn,” another fan said.
“when you impress everyone getting a triple stumper final jeopardy about 19th century english poets but you only know it bc of a taylor swift song,” one quipped.
“I love it when I know Final Jeopardy answers due to my deep knowledge of the Taylor Swift discography,” another tweeted.
This isn’t the first time “Jeopardy!” contestants were stumped by a lack of Taylor Swift knowledge.
Last year, in a category about song titles, contestants were given the clue: “And I’m just like oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh, you need to just stop, like can you just not, step on my gown?” — lyrics to “You Need to Calm Down” by Swift.
None of the contestants got that correct, either.
