Jessica Simpson mistaken for Britney Spears: reaction photo
It’s not quite Britney b–ch!
Fashion mogul Jessica Simpson revealed that she was confused for Britney Spears and approached for an autograph during a recent outing.
According to her Instagram post, Simpson, 43, said a fan went up to her in a parking lot of her local mall while she was with her daughter Maxwell.
“The face when someone in the parking lot at the mall asks you for your autograph, but expects you to sign it Britney Spears,” her photo caption read, appearing shocked with her eldest.
Several of Simpson’s followers flocked to her comment section to react.
“Only a compliment,” commented one user.
“Lol a compliment bc you’re both beautiful,” gushed a second person.
“23 years later and you’re still having these issues haha,” a third user wrote, adding: “Would have loved to have seen their face when you told them you’re not her.”
Some users, however, weren’t as amused about the incident.
“Is that shade,” questioned someone.
“I’m not sure how to take this post. The two of you have always been compared, so I’m thinking this was a diss to her,” a second critic noted.
Both Simpson and Spears, 41, rocketed to stardom as pop singers in the late 1990s to early 2000s, spawning an unofficial rivalry between the two.
The pair also starred in opposing reality shows — “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica” and “Britney and Kevin: Chaotic” — featuring their then-significant others, Nick Lachey and Kevin Federline, respectively.
In 2022, Spears posted a photo of herself on Instagram laughing about how much she and the “These Boots Are Made For Walking” songstress look alike.
“Why do I look EXACTLY like Jessica Simpson??? Also my face looks so pale,” Spears wrote at the time.
Simpson also opened up about how she was likened to the “Toxic” singer while in front of her kids at Disney World in her 2021 memoir, “Open Book.”
“I was like, of course this would happen to me,” wrote Simpson. “Britney steals even this Disney moment, right there in front of my kids.”
Spears is slated to release her own bombshell book, titled “The Woman in Me,” on Oct. 24. The memoir will be narrated by Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams.
