Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo takes all-time Cross-Country Skiing World Cup podium record with victory in Falun

Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo stormed to a historic 113th Cross-Country Skiing World Cup podium finish with 10km classic victory in Falun.

With his 15th gold of the season, Klaebo overtook cross-country icon Bjoern Daehli’s record of 112 podiums and reach new heights in cross-country folklore.

A time of 26 minutes provided Klaebo with his second win of the weekend – the Norwegian clinched the sprint crystal globe following his gold medal on Friday.

Finland’s Iivo Niskanen was 22.1 seconds behind for silver, whilst Norway’s Martin Loewstroem Nyenget took bronze.

“It was a hard race,” Klaebo said. “With the snow and the conditions and everything it was a really, really tough one. But I had amazing skis and I feel like the waxers have done a really good job waxing our skis, so it was cool to finish off this way.”

In the women’s individual classic, Finland’s Kerttu Niskanen clinched her eighth World Cup victory.

Leading a Finnish one-two after being closely followed by team-mate and silver medallist Johanna Matintalo, Niskanen finished in a time of 30 minutes and 1.3 seconds.

Sweden’s Jonna Sundling took third, 10 seconds behind Niskanen.
