John Higgins credits fluke during win over Lyu Haotian and admits he is ‘missing a few of the easy ones’
John Higgins celebrated a 4-2 win over Lyu Haotian but conceded he was “missing a few of the easy ones.”
Lyu went ahead with an impressive start in the first frame, but Higgins scrapped back with some intermittently impressive snooker, as well as benefiting from a fluke in the fifth that helped him on his way to victory.
However, speaking to Alan McManus on Eurosport after his win, he explained he was struggling with more than just his form.
He said: “It’s the first time I’ve ever played with a headache, my head is bursting. It’s tough, throbbing.
“I felt a lot better last night, I was hitting the ball a lot better last night.”
Discussing the fluke, he added: “I had a massive stroke of luck in the fifth frame when I potted it, and then I potted the green in the middle.
“That’s something, a good shot, because I was thinking because I’ve got the fluke, so I was delighted.”
Higgins reflected on his lack of consistency, saying: “I was potting the hard balls and I was missing a few of the easy ones.”
