John Mulaney ex Anna Marie Tendler memoir: ‘Going to end him’
This scorned woman is about to unleash her fury.
Comedian John Mulaney’s ex-wife, Anna Marie Tendler, 38, announced on social media that she’s got a forthcoming memoir, which will be titled “Men Have Called Her Crazy.”
In her Instagram post, the visual artist wrote, “I have been writing this book for two years. More accurately though I have been writing it for close to four decades. I have never been more proud of any work.”
She continued, “It is a story about mental health; about being a woman; about family. And finally, about the endless source of my heartbreak and rage — men.”
One fan commented on Tendler’s Instagram announcement, “Get in Babes [he who shall not be named] diss track just dropped.”
“She’s going to END HIM,” another fan wrote.
Tendler was married to Mulaney, 41, from 2014 to 2022.
They reportedly met in the late 2000s during a group trip to Martha’s Vineyard and tied the knot in July 2014 in Boiceville, NY, in a wedding officiated by “Schitt’s Creek” star Dan Levy. The wedding had a 1920s and woodland-deco theme.
Mulaney shared a wedding photo on his Instagram to mark the occasion. “On a beautiful and perfect day, I married a beautiful and perfect woman,” he wrote in the caption. “I wish I could live it over and over again.”
Mulaney and Tendler announced their divorce in May 2021. Just four months later, in September of 2021, Mulaney announced that he and his girlfriend, actress Olivia Munn, 43, were expecting a child.
The two are still together and welcomed their son, Malcolm, in November 2021.
“Anna marie tendler’s memoir doesn’t come out until august but u bet ur ass i preordered it the second i knew it existed. it’s over for you john mulaney. like it should’ve been before,” one fan posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Mulaney also went to rehab in 2020 for using a cocktail of drugs including Adderall, Xanax, Klonopin, Percocet and cocaine.
In his April 2023 Netflix special, “John Mulaney: Baby J,” the comedian and former “Saturday Night Live” writer opened with, “I’ve had a weird couple years,” referring to his public personal life — including his stint in rehab, his divorce and the birth of his son with Munn — as well as the pandemic.
He then sang, “We all went to rehab, and we all got divorced, and now our reputation is different. No one knows what to think. All the kids like Bo Burnham more because he’s currently less problematic. Likability is a jail.”
Prior to his divorce from Tendler, Mulaney frequently used her as a subject in his stand-up comedy, prompting him to be among the pantheon of stars who got reputations for being “wife guys.”
During one set, Munaley said about Tendler, “I’ve been married for three and a half years now, and I love and respect my wife very much. So I said to her, ‘…Do you mind if I still make fun of you onstage?’ And my wife said, ‘Um, yeah, you can make fun of me, but just don’t say that I’m a b–ch and that you don’t like me.’”
He joked, “I would never say that, not even as a joke, that my wife is a b–ch and I don’t like her. That is not true. My wife is a b–ch and I like her so much.”
When the show got posted on TikTok, commenters said, “This aged poorly this aged poorly” and “aged like milk” and “Too bad he cheated.”
Tendler never publicly accused Mulaney of cheating on her with Munn. But when she confirmed their divorce, she put the onus on Mulaney for their split in a statement.
“I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage. I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery,” her statement read.
Another fan commented on Tendler’s Instagram post announcing her book, “Imagine being him and getting the screenshots of this from his friends today.”
“Serves him f–king right,” another fan commented.
“Cannot wait for anna marie tendler to absolutely obliterate every man she’s ever known including john mullaney in bound print for the public to read,” another fan tweeted.
“Men Have Called Her Crazy” will be published on Aug. 13.
