Jonathan Majors facing new abuse allegations: report
Jonathan Majors may face more legal trouble following his March arrest on charges of strangulation, assault and harassment.
Variety reported Wednesday that sources familiar with the matter claim more women have come forward to accuse the 33-year-old “Lovecraft Country” star of abuse, and they are said to be cooperating with the Manhattan district attorney’s office.
Majors has a court appearance scheduled for May 8.
“Jonathan Majors is innocent and has not abused anyone,” his attorney, Priya Chaudhry, told Deadline late Wednesday. “We have provided irrefutable evidence to the District Attorney that the charges are false. We are confident that he will be fully exonerated.”
The Post has reached out to reps for Majors for comment. The DA’s office declined to comment Wednesday to The Post.
The news follows reports that the Emmy-nominated actor was axed by his public relations firm, the Lede Company, as well as by his management company, Entertainment 360.
The “Creed III” star was arrested in a Chelsea apartment on March 25 after his 30-year-old unidentified girlfriend told police he choked her. The dispute allegedly arose while Majors and the woman were taking a taxi home from a Brooklyn bar.
Sources told TMZ at the time that Majors’ girlfriend saw another woman texting him and confronted Majors. The actor reportedly got upset, grabbed her hand, and slapped her.
NYPD police said the woman “sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.”
Chaudhry said Majors is “completely innocent,” and his girlfriend was having an “emotional crisis” for which she was hospitalized.
Chaudhry provided TMZ with a text exchange she claims was between Majors and his girlfriend, who appeared to take blame for the incident.
She allegedly assured the actor she told police it “was not an attack.”
“Please let me know you’re okay when you get this,” the woman allegedly texted Majors. “They assured me that you won’t be charged.”
“They said they had to arrest you as protocol when they saw the injuries on me and they knew we had a fight,” the message continued. “I’m so angry that they did. And I’m sorry you’re in this position.”
“Will make sure nothing happens about this. I told them it was my fault for trying to grab your phone,” the text went on. “I love you.”
Following his arrest, the Army scrapped an ad campaign featuring Majors; he was dropped from “The Man in My Basement” film; and Valentino and Majors “mutually agreed” he will no longer attend the Met Gala next month.
Variety noted he is still attached to “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” and the Disney+ series “Loki.”
