He also failed to qualify for the German Masters and was knocked out of the UK Championship in the second round.
“Maybe it’ll be good just to get away from snooker for a week or two, come back with more excitement and look forward to playing in the tournaments after Christmas.”
‘Brilliant’ Brecel makes 135 clearance in quarter-final against Trump
Trump admits his recent performances have been “tricky to work out”.
“I seem to be getting myself into position and losing every time I come up against a good player, so obviously there’s something missing,” he said.
“The run of the balls are just not great for me at the moment. I’ll just keep battling obviously. It doesn’t help when your opponent’s playing well.
“I’ll just keep putting myself in that position and hopefully I’ll get a better run sooner than later.”
Eurosport’s Neal Foulds has every confidence the 31-year-old will bounce back but agreed that he needed time away from the table.
“He just wants to win a tournament and then that will start his season,” said Foulds.
“He thinks if he can win one then he can win three or four because he’s done it before.
“Tonight he was battered really, wasn’t he? Let’s be honest. He got a hiding there and he mentioned the run of the ball in the last frame – it wasn’t anything to do with the run of the ball, really, but when you’re struggling, you think you’re getting bad runs. We all think that, don’t we?
“Ultimately, he’s not playing great and he hasn’t been playing great for a while.
“That little bit of fine edge, that cutting edge, is not there right now and maybe a break will do him good. He’ll get it back. He’s a great player.”
