Jurgen Klopp refuses to answer questions from journalist in spiky press conference after Liverpool loss

Jurgen Klopp was embroiled in a prickly press conference on Saturday, with the Liverpool boss refusing to answer questions following his side’s loss to Wolves.

The Reds slipped 11 points off the top four in the Premier League following their 3-0 loss at Molineux.
After what was a poor performance, Klopp cut a downbeat figure when speaking to the broadcast media.

The German fronted up to a press conference, and was unhappy with the lines of questioning from a journalist.

Asked by James Pearce of the Athletic whether the team’s poor form was an issue with mentality, Klopp said: “It’s very difficult to talk to you if I’m 100 percent honest. I would prefer not to do that.”

Pressed on why he would not answer questions from Pearce, Klopp replied: “You know why, for all the things you wrote. So If somebody else wanted to ask that question then I’ll answer it.”

‘How can I not be concerned?’ – Klopp after 3-0 defeat at Wolves

Liverpool found themselves on the back foot against Wolves after conceding twice in the opening 12 minutes.

It was an awful start to the game from the Reds, and Klopp felt it was something he thought his side had eradicated from their game.

“We had that subject through the first part of this season, now not so much,” Klopp said. “But today it was the pinnacle of our problems because in a game like this it is absolutely not allowed.

“You can criticise, you can judge us, you can say whatever you want and you are probably right, I have nothing to say against that because these 12 minutes are not allowed.

“Coming here with all the things we did in the last few days and during the whole season so far, and then we arrive here and this is the outcome, that’s really hard to take, I have to say.”

Klopp has over a week to regroup, but next Monday will be a huge test of the Reds’ resolve as they take on Everton in a Merseyside derby.

A couple of weeks ago, it would have been a game to relish, but Everton looked a different side under new manager Sean Dyche when beating Premier League leaders Arsenal on Saturday.

Champions League qualification via the Premier League looks a mammoth task for the Reds, but winning the competition this season looks equally difficult as they face champions Real Madrid in the round of 16.
