Juventus’ 15-point deduction overturned after CONI hearing, AC Milan drop out of Champions League places

Juventus’ 15-point deduction over their transfer dealings has been reversed.

The Bianconeri have jumped from seventh into third place and leaves AC Milan outside of the Champions League places with eight Serie A matches remaining.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho’s Roma currently occupy the fourth and final Champions League spot with 56 points.

The Sports Guarantee Panel of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) has since determined that the case should be re-examined, after the Turin club were accused of fixing balance sheets by artificial gains from transfers.

However, the matter is not closed, with the case now set to go back to the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) appeals court which gave out the initial 15-point sanction.

These developments come after a three-hour hearing on Wednesday afternoon, which took place within the Italian Olympic Committee’s headquarters in Rome.

The same hearing also resulted in Tottenham managing director of football Fabio Paratici being unsuccessful in appeal against a 30-month ban, which was part of the same proceedings.

Paratici is a former Juve sporting director and one of 11 directors, who were either former or still in place at the club, implicated in the hearing.

Paratici, ex-president Andrea Agnelli, former chief executive Maurizio Arrivabene and sports director Federico Cherubini were among those that had their appeals rejected.

However, former player and director, Pavel Nedved, Paolo Garimberti and Enrico Vellano were successful in their appeals.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side are in Europa League quarter-final second-leg action against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday evening after winning last week’s first leg 1-0.
