Juventus beat Freiburg in Europa League, Fiorentina defeat Sivasspor in Europa Conference League

Angel Di Maria scored the only goal of the game as Juventus beat Freiburg in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The veteran Argentine midfielder scored on a night when Paul Pogba was dropped from the starting line-up, reportedly for disciplinary reasons.
Di Maria’s former side Manchester United beat Real Betis 4-1, after goals from Marcus Rashford, Antony, Bruno Fernandes and Wout Weghorst for the home side, and Ayoze Perez for the Spanish team.

Shakhtar Donetsk drew their home game – played in Poland – against Feyenoord. Yaroslav Rakitskyi’s 79th-minute effort looked to be the winner before Ezequiel Ballaude levelled with two minutes of normal time remaining.

Josip Juranovic and Robin Knoche scored the home side’s first two goals and a brace from VIctor Boniface and another from Yorbe Vertessen had Union Saint-Gilloise ahead until the 89th minute, when Sven Michel notched an equaliser.

Anderlecht drew 1-1 at home to Villarreal in the Europa Conference League in Belgium as Anders Dreyer’s 57th-minute equaliser cancelled out Manu Trigueros’ opener after 28 minutes.

Another Belgian side, Gent, enjoyed the same scoreline as they hosted Istanbul Basaksehir. Gift Orban equalised for the home side after Stefano Okaka’s early opener.

Sivasspor, also from Turkey, lost 1-0 to Fiorentina after Antonin Barak scored for the home side on 69 minutes, and Sivasspor’s task in the return leg was made harder as Max-Alain Gradel saw red in injury time.

Swiss outfit Basel looked to be on course for a 2-1 win over Slovan Bratislava after Zeki Amdouni and Andi Zeqiri bookended Jurij Medvedev’s 17th minute strike, but Malik Abubakari made it 2-2 with an equaliser in the 70th minute.

Lech Poznan beat Djurgarden 2-0 at home with goals from Antonio Milic and then Filip Marchwinski.

Nice grabbed a 1-0 away win against Sheriff thanks to Ayoub Amraoui’s strike in first half added time.

West Ham took some respite from their poor domestic form as Michail Antonio’s two goals gave them a win at AEK Larnaca in Cyprus.
