Karine Jean-Pierre mocked for deleted tweet saying she ran for president

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was mocked Tuesday for posting a tweet suggesting that she once ran for president of the United States.

“Investing in America means investing in ALL of America,” read Jean-Pierre’s since-deleted tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter. “When I ran for President, I made a promise that I would leave no part of the country behind.”

The social media blunder left users scratching their heads, with some wondering if Jean-Pierre mistakenly logged into her Twitter account instead of President Biden’s to post the tweet. 

“Oh wow! They tweeted from the wrong account! @PressSec Karine Jean-Pierre has not run for President, at least to the best of my knowledge,” Simon Ateba, Today News Africa’s chief White House correspondent, mused. 

“Today, we learned KJP is our first Black Female LGBT President,” conservative commentator AK Kamara joked. 

Others speculated that a White House intern might be to blame.

“Is karine jean-pierre writing joe biden’s tweets or are they using the same intern,” Babylon Bee writer Ashley St. Clair wrote on the social media platform, adding, “Intern def gettin fired” and “Epic fail” in follow-up tweets. 

Another user chimed in, arguing that the errant tweet “is a perfect microcosm of the entire Biden presidency.”

The 49-year-old White House press secretary, tapped by the president in May of last year to replace Jen Psaki, is no stranger to ridicule. 

Last July, Jean-Pierre was widely mocked for claiming that “we are stronger economically than we have been in history” amid soaring inflation. 

A month later, she touted “0% inflation in July” following the release of the consumer price index — even as federal data indicated that it rose by 8.5% year over year.

Like the 80-year-old president, Jean-Pierre has also made several gaffes from the White House podium. 

In September, she received social media scorn after calling Russia’s Nord Stream 1 pipeline “Nordstrom,” like the department store.

And on Monday, Jean-Pierre both mispronounced the names of Hawaii’s two Democratic senators and misgendered one of them days after the island suffered the most devastating US wildfire in more than a century.

“Senator Harino [sic], who I said the president spoke to just last night, he thanked the president for the immediate support of federal agencies have delivered for residents of Hawaii,” the White House spokesperson told reporters, “and so does, has, so has Senator Shorts, Sharts — Schatz.”

Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) is the first female senator from the Aloha State, and Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) is serving his second full term in the Senate.
