Karl Geiger topples Stefan Kraft as unbeaten start comes to an end in World Cup at Klingenthal

Karl Geiger snapped Stefan Kraft’s unbeaten start to the ski jumping season with his first World Cup victory in nearly two years in Klingenthal.

Kraft won the first four World Cup legs but was pipped by just 1.2 points thanks to Geiger’s 146-metre second jump.

Geiger led after the first round, his 144-metre jump enough for 132.6 points, while Kraft sat fourth. But the Austrian rebounded with a 144.5-metre second-round jump to leap into contention.

However, Geiger delighted the home fans in Germany by holding his nerve with the final jump of the night to mark his first win since January 2022.

Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi was third, a further 2.8 points back.

Kraft retains the overall lead on 480 points, with Andreas Wellinger 160 behind and Geiger now up to third
