Karol G ‘doing well,’ thanks fans after private jet makes emergency landing in LA

Grammy-winning singer Karol G broke her silence Friday after smoke filled the cockpit of her private jet and was forced to abruptly land in Los Angeles.

“Thanks to all who have shown concern and who have sent messages,” the 33-year-old singer wrote in Spanish to her Instagram story.

“My family, my team, and I are all doing very well and are grateful for the new opportunity. God takes care of us and blesses us daily with life and health.”

Karol G, whose real name is Carolina Giraldo Navarro, was aboard the private Gulfstream aircraft that took off from Burbank airport Thursday evening before experiencing the scare mid-flight.

The aircraft, which also carried the singer’s entourage, was headed east but the pilot reported a midair issue while above the Cajun Pass, ABC7 had reported.

A U-turn was made and the plane made a “smooth” landing at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles at around 9 p.m.

All 16 people on board were accounted for with no injuries being reported.

The FAA is investigating the incident.

Karol G hugged other passengers on the tarmac as emergency crews responded to the plane, according to video captured by the outlet.

She was also captured shaking what appeared to be the pilot’s hand as airport emergency crews tended to the plane.

The emergency landing came one day before the singer was scheduled to perform in Guatemala City as part of her “Mañana Será Bonito” (“Tomorrow will be nice”) tour.

The singer spent about 13 hours on the ground before she was on her way to Guatemala, alerting fans that the show was moving forward as scheduled.

“Guatemala, We are already taking off! I see you today in the name of God!” the post read.

“I’m going straight to the show… a little patience but I’m not going to let you down… especially to the people who have been waiting in line for days. I can’t wait to see them! Grateful for you, for my family! For everyone!!”

Friday night’s show was the first of two the “Provenza” singer was performing in the Central American country.

She will head to Costa Rica before hopping around several other Latin American countries, ending the “Latam Tour” on May 10 in Brazil.

The California trip came days after she finished the Mexican leg of her tour.

Earlier this month, Karol G not only won her first Grammy award for best “best música urbana album,” but she was also named the 2024 Billboard Women of the Year, where she will be honored at the Billboard Women in Music Awards on March 6.
