Kate Beckinsale reveals she’s been hospitalized: crying photos
Kate Beckinsale revealed she was hospitalized recently.
The 50-year-old “Serendipity” star sandwiched tearful photos of herself in a hospital bed between photos of her mom, Judy Loe, in an Instagram post on Monday.
“Happy birthday and UK Mother’s Day this last week to my incredible mother,” Beckinsale captioned the post. “Thank you to those that love us and support us when it’s s–t and try to make sure there are some bits that aren’t.”
Beckinsale has been caring for her mom, who is battling significant health issues, since her stepfather, British TV director Roy Battersby, died in January after suffering “a massive stroke” while battling two types of cancer.
But on Monday, the English actress claimed she was battling health issues of her own without going into any more detail.
Her Instagram caption continued, “And for looking after our dogs when we can’t, and lead us to remember happy things when we can’t. And turn up when we are sick and sit with us. And send balloons and check in and pull us out of wells with love. Thank you for loving us, those who do, and for the amazing, kindest Nick, and especially for my mother’s capacity for joy. It is so inspiring and beautiful.”
Beckinsale concluded, “Happy everything mama. Your fight for joy despite also welcoming tears is the experience of watching a warrior up close. I love you x.”
The Post has contacted reps for Beckinsale for comment.
In May, Beckinsale revealed she has a condition called mast cell activation syndrome, which occurs when the mast cells in your body release too much of a substance that causes allergy-like symptoms.
“I actually can’t. I have a condition called mast cell activation syndrome which is actually a massive daily struggle and means I react to hundreds of things badly,” Beckinsale fired back at trolls on Instagram over accusations that she’s had Botox and fillers. “Can’t take the risk.”
The “Pearl Harbor” star also worried fans in January when she rushed straight from the Golden Globes to the hospital, where Battersby was recovering from a stroke.
She arrived at the facility in her sparkly silver Atelier Zuhra gown to be with her family, eating burgers and playing on their phones.
Beckinsale reposted a fan-made video on Instagram upon Battersby’s death, which showed him recalling how he celebrated Victory in Europe Day in 1945.
“I have no words yet,” she captioned the tribute. “I fought for you with everything I had. Oh Roy I am so sorry I lost.”
