Kate Hudson thinks ‘Marvel guys’ can help to make more rom-coms

Rom-com queen Kate Hudson has a lot to say about the genre when it comes to casting male love interests.

The “Bride Wars” star, 44, appeared on “The View” Thursday to discuss why “it’s hard to get male movie stars to make rom-coms.”

“As long as we can get more Marvel guys to like, you know, ‘Hey, come to a rom-com!,’ I think that that’s a big part of the formula too,” she said.

Co-host Sara Haines then asked the “Fool’s Gold” actress why there is a “misstep” between masculine entertainers and the allure of romance films.

Hudson explained: “I think it’s about the writing, and how we’re investing in telling the story of the writing and the directors.”

“If you look at the classic rom-coms or movies that last forever — ’cause they do, they’re the ones that last forever; people go back and back — they had the best writers,” she went on.

She added that it’s up to the studios, as they are “investing in the talents.”

One of Hudson’s most memorable roles was in 2003’s “How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” in which she starred alongside Matthew McConaughey.

She noted on the talk show how that film’s script was “well-written” and didn’t need to follow a “certain formula” for it to be successful.

“There is a formula that works — but it does also start with the writing. We went through multiple writers on that. We really made sure we had a great foundation of a script. And then the cast,” she said.

Among Hudson’s other iconic comedy flicks involving love, include “Something Borrowed,” “You, Me and Dupree,” “Mother’s Day” and “My Best Friend’s Girl.”

Last year, Hudson said she wished she had scored the lead role in the 2001 film “Moulin Rouge!” — instead of Nicole Kidman, 56.

She revealed on the “You’re Doing Fine … Just Keep Going” podcast that she was passed over to play the character Satine when she was 22 and Kidman was 34.

“Even if I don’t get this part — which I didn’t because they went way older … what a great experience that was to do a work session with [director] Baz Luhrmann,” she said at the time.

She added that she “really wanted that part” and was “bummed out” when she lost it to the “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” star.
