Kate Middleton shocks Roger Federer with her tennis skills: ‘Amazing!’
It was a royally good rally — but the king of tennis couldn’t outplay the real-life princess.
Roger Federer has faced off against Princess Kate in a game to advertise the upcoming Wimbledon Championships.
Footage of the friendly match was shared on the organization’s official Instagram account on Sunday, with viewers left impressed by Kate’s court prowess.
The clip — which has clocked up more than 1.2 million views in 24 hours — shows the 41-year-old princess greeting her 41-year-old opponent in a sporty white tank top and a matching Adidas x Stella McCartney skort.
“Shall we play some tennis?” Federer asks the racquet-wielding royal before he agrees to start off a rally.
Kate — who serves as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, which hosts Wimbledon — showed off her formidable forehand in the footage, returning all of Federer’s shots with ease.
The powerhouse princess even managed to snag a point from the 20-time Grand Slam winner, expertly belting the ball down the line, out of Federer’s reach.
“Amazing!” Federer remarked as Kate looked stunned by her own success.
Fans fawned over the royal’s racquet skills, with one remarking: “She’s actually pretty good.”
Another exclaimed: “Props to her, forehand was lookin’ sturdy.”
Meanwhile, several other fans said they enjoyed watching the pair play together.
“Love them both,” one swooned. “Such beautiful people. Charming, well-mannered and so natural. This is one really cute match.”
The princess is well-known for her love of tennis and has been playing the sport casually for decades, even competing in high school.
Kate and her husband, Prince William, have also reportedly enlisted their three children for tennis lessons, with 9-year-old Prince George even impressing Federer with his skills, according to the Daily Mail.
The alethic princess also played netball and hockey in high school and has since been seen sailing, running and playing rugby.
