Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith backs out of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ finale amid her cancer diagnosis

Kate Middleton’s controversial uncle, Gary Goldsmith, pulled out of the “Celebrity Big Brother” final Friday night after the Princess of Wales revealed her cancer diagnosis.

“Following today’s news, I will not be attending tonight’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ final,” Goldsmith, 58, shared about the UK game show on X, formerly Twitter.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my fellow Housemates and to everyone involved in the making of this brilliant show. I hope you all enjoy your special night.”

He added in a separate tweet, “As many will have seen, I am featured in Saturday’s Times Magazine. This interview and shoot was done over a week ago and went to print before I was aware of the sad news regarding my niece Kate.”

“My thoughts and prayers are with Kate and the wider family at this difficult time and deeply upset at the timing of this article. I hope this draws a line over the continued speculation and horrible conspiracies. Let’s give Kate, William & the children time and show some love back,” Goldsmith concluded of his extended family.

Goldsmith appeared on Season 23 of the reality game show earlier this month, spending a whopping five days in the house until he was eliminated on March 8.

During Goldsmith’s stay, fellow “Big Brother” contestant and “Love Island UK” winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu confronted him about his niece’s whereabouts amid widespread conspiracy theories online following her planned abdominal surgery in January.

Goldsmith responded: “So because she doesn’t want to talk about it…The last thing I’m going to do is…There is the kind of code of etiquette, if it’s announced, I’ll give you an opinion.”

“I hope she’s okay,” Culculoglu replied.

“She’s getting the best care in the world,” Goldsmith said, claiming he’d spoken with his sister and Kate’s mom, Carole Middleton. “All the family has done is put the wagons round and look after family first before anything else.”

“They put a statement out that just said it just takes some time to recoup and we’ll see you in Easter,” Goldsmith added, insisting that Kate will “be back.”

The future queen revealed in a video Friday that she is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer.

“The [abdominal] surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” the mother of three stated. “My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

Kate described her husband, Prince William, as a “great source of comfort and reassurance,” and assured supporters that she is “well and getting stronger every day.”
