King Charles removed Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s security to regain ‘control’: report

King Charles yanked Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s personal security away in the UK in a desperate bid to bring them to heel, according to a report.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, and his wife, Meghan Markle, 42, were stripped of taxpayer-funded police protection after they stepped back from being “working royals” and moved to the US in 2020.

Harry’s lawyers had sought a judicial review of the government’s refusal of his offer to hire police officers as his private security detail, which was ultimately denied by London’s High Court in May.

According to a new report from the Byline Times, Charles, 74, was not happy with his youngest son’s swift departure from the royal fold — and took away his security in retaliation.

“The Sussexes had either to be safely in the tent in Britain or cast away and castigated as comprehensively as possible in order to reduce the threat of them eclipsing the rest of the family,” a source told the outlet.

The insider claims that the monarch was “threatened” by another royal stealing the spotlight from him.

“The greater truth is that Harry and Meghan make better headlines than the King and Camilla or William and Kate,” the source continued. “The idea of them still being in public service but abroad and out of the control of the institution and dominating the media narrative just couldn’t happen.”

The report alleged that the Firm “tried everything to make it fail, starting with the removal of security and then signing off on a 12-month assault by the UK press on Harry and Meghan and everyone in their orbit.”

What allegedly added fuel to the fire was Harry’s determination to sue media outlets over their coverage.

This was “deemed highly undesirable by the offices of Prince Charles and Prince William because there was always lots of horse-trading going on with the editors and their correspondents to ensure favorable coverage and protection when scandals broke,” the insider said.

Since “no one wanted that stuff to end up in a courtroom, Harry and Meghan were expendable, but the heirs and their wives were not.”

The outlet added that it soon became easy for the King to snatch away the Sussexes’ “transition funding, which Charles knew was his son’s only lifeline to keeping safe, and was considered a very effective way of trying to bring Harry and Meghan to heel in the UK.”

The Sussexes have been paying for US security guards over the past three years, but a representative of the family said the American detail does not have jurisdiction overseas or access to intelligence in the UK.

Harry — who traveled solo to the UK in May to attend the coronation of his father — previously said he is “gravely concerned about his safety and security during future trips” to his homeland and feels unsafe bringing along his children, 4-year-old son Archie and 2-year-old daughter Lilibet.

The last time Harry and Meghan traveled to the UK together was for his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral last September.

The Post has reached out to Buckingham Palace and reps for the Sussexes for comment.
