Lady Gaga seen singing on NYC steps for ‘Joker 2’
We’re seeing double.
Lady Gaga was spotted singing and dancing this weekend in the Bronx on the iconic steps made even more infamous by co-star Joaquin Phoenix in his first “Joker” film.
The “Poker Face” singer, Oscar winner Phoenix and “Joker: Folie à Deux” director Todd Phillps were caught on location with the former two in full costume and makeup.
In one tweet posted by a peeping fan, viewers can see and hear the 37-year-old pop superstar singing at the top of her lungs and dancing while crew members attempted to shield her from view.
Also in the video, a squadron of police officers appear to confront Gaga.
“SHE’S SINGING AND DANCING DOWN THE STAIRS!!!,” reads the hysterical social media alert to Gaga’s many Little Monsters.
It is unclear what exactly the “Bad Romance” singer was belting out — but the sound of whizzing shutterbugs and fans whispering “Oh my god!” is unmistakable.
The stairs were initially made famous in the first “Joker” movie when Joaquin Phoenix, who plays the titular character, dances down them to Gary Glitter’s 1982 hit “Rock and Roll Part 2.”
Following the success of the first film, the stairs — located along West 167 Street —became a hotbed of influencers attempting to recreate the iconic scene.
However, several residents of the area did find this a laughing matter.
Many disgruntled neighbors took to social media asking people to stay away.
“Please, if you’re reading this and you’re not from around here (or ever been to the Bronx, Yankee stadium does not count) PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE,” begged one resident on Twitter.
Gaga, who plays the Joker’s deranged lover Harley Quinn, was also spotted in full costume and makeup filming at the New York County Supreme Court in downtown Manhattan.
Another photo of the singer-turned-movie star emerged with her and Phoenix standing side by side with the duo in full makeup and Gaga sporting shorter blonde hair.
“Joker: Folie à Deux” is slated to dance its way into theaters in October 2024.
