Larry David insists he’s ‘not lying’ over ‘Seinfeld’ reunion rumors
Yada, yada, yada, Larry David is over “Seinfeld.”
The actor’s show about nothing lasted for nine seasons until 1998 — and that’s where he’d like to leave it.
The comedian, 76, opened up about the sitcom — and denied reunion rumors — while attending the Season 12 premiere of his hit show “Curb Your Enthusiasm” in L.A. on Tuesday.
“Yeah. What do I have to do [to convince people]? Yes, it’s so, it’s so. I’m tired of people thinking I’m lying,” David joked to Entertainment Tonight. “We’re done, it’s over, yeah, it’s over.”
He added defiantly: “No, no, no. No.”
The final season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” airs Feb. 4 on HBO.
The show first aired on the network in 2000 and concluded in 2011. It was then revived after a six-year hiatus in 2017.
The show features David playing a fictionalized version of himself and showcases many celebrity guest stars.
“I’ll miss TV Larry, yeah,” he told ET on Tuesday night.
But the “Whatever Works” star quipped that he won’t miss “getting up at five in the morning” to shoot on set.
It was announced last month that “Curb” would officially be ending.
“As ‘Curb’ comes to an end, I will now have the opportunity to finally shed this ‘Larry David’ persona and become the person God intended me to be — the thoughtful, kind, caring, considerate human being I was until I got derailed by portraying this malignant character,” David said in a statement at the time.
He joked: “And so, ‘Larry David,’ I bid you farewell. Your misanthropy will not be missed. And for those who would like to get in touch with me, you can reach me at Doctors Without Borders.”
Stars Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman, Cheryl Hines, JB Smoove, Richard Lewis, Ted Danson, Vince Vaughan and Tracey Ullman all returned for Season 12.
Jerry Seinfeld — the star and co-creator of his eponymous NBC sitcom — hinted at a possible “Seinfeld” reunion while doing a comedy show in October 2023.
The “Bee Movie” star, 69, told his Boston audience that he and David were working on a new project.
“Well, I have a little secret for you about the ending [of the show],” he said. “But I can’t really tell it, because it is a secret.”
“Here’s what I’ll tell you. OK? But you can’t tell anybody,” the stand-up laughed. “Something is going to happen that has to do with that ending.”
Seinfeld then added that it “hasn’t happened yet,” but “just what you are thinking about, Larry and I have also been thinking about it. So you’ll see.”
Seinfeld’s co-stars Jason Alexander and Julia Louis-Dreyfus also don’t know “what the hell” he’s talking about. (The sitcom also starred Michael Richards.)
“There is only one reason for that rumor. Apparently, at the end of some stand-up thing, [Seinfeld] went, ‘Larry [David] and I are thinking of something,’” Alexander, 64, told “Extra” in November 2023.
“Good for you. I don’t know anything about it… No one called me. Apparently, they don’t need George.”
