Lauren Boebert addresses vaping, groping ‘slip up’ at ‘Beetlejuice’
Firebrand Rep. Lauren Boebert blamed her frisky vaping behavior at a recent performance of “Beetlejuice” on her “overly animated personality.”
“I was a little too eccentric. I am very known for having an animated personality. Maybe overly animated personality,” the 36-year-old Colorado rabble-rouser recounted on One America News Network.
Boebert and her date were booted from the Denver show last Sunday after blowing a plume of vape smoke into the air — but footage also showed the mom of four groping her male companion’s crotch mid-show.
“I was laughing, I was singing, having a fantastic time. Was told to kind of settle it down a little bit, which I did but then my next slip up was taking a picture,” Boebert explained on OAN.
Boebert, who is going through a divorce, was with her new beau, Quinn Gallagher, a Democratic Aspen bar owner, who was also caught fondling her breasts during the show.
News of her wild weekend exploit quickly went viral. Boebert blamed the media for over-amplifying the affair.
“We just had Kevin McCarthy, the Speaker of the House announce the impeachment inquiry,” she said. “We’re facing a government shutdown and trying to fund the federal government. We have wide open southern border.”
“And what’s the top story? Lauren Boebert getting kicked out of the theater.”
Initially, a spokesperson for Boebert denied reports that she was booted from the musical for vaping.
“I can confirm the stunning and salacious rumors: in her personal time, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is indeed a supporter of the performing arts (gasp!) and, to the dismay of a select few, enthusiastically enjoyed a weekend performance of Beetlejuice,” campaign manager Drew Sexton told multiple outlets.
But after surveillance footage came out showing a plume of smoke and the mischievous behavior, Boebert struck a more conciliatory tone.
“There’s no perfect blueprint for going through a public and difficult divorce, which over the past few months has made for a challenging personal time for me and my entire family,” Boebert wrote in a mea culpa on social media Friday.
“I’ve tried to handle it with strength and grace as best I can, but I simply fell short of my values on Sunday. That’s unacceptable and I’m sorry.”
Boebert had filed for divorce from her husband, Jayson, back in April. A month prior, she revealed that her son Tyler, 17 at the time, impregnated a girl.
The firebrand lawmaker has reportedly been dating Gallagher for months. He co-owns the Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar in Aspen, which has hosted a drag show in the past.
Boebert, who has a rap sheet of arrests, has been fiercely critical of drag shows for military recruitment and in classrooms.
Shortly after Boebert narrowly squeaked out a victory in Colorado’s R+15 3rd Congressional District, she vowed to be a “good listener, to take a deep breath, and help take the temperature down in D.C.”
Boebert has been famous for her pugnacious temperament in which she poses with high-powered firearms and purportedly gets into bathroom fights with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.)
She has already committed to pursuing a third term in Congress, setting on a potential collision course with Aspen City Councilman Adam Frisch.
Boebert barely fended off a challenge from Frisch in the 2022 cycle, by a wafer-thin 546 votes.
