Leslie Jones claims Chris Rock went to counseling with daughters after Will Smith slap

Chris Rock sought out advice following Will Smith’s infamous Oscars slap in March 2022 — according to Leslie Jones.

“That s—t was humiliating. It really affected him. People need to understand his daughters, his parents, saw that. He had to go to counseling with his daughters” Jones claimed in a recent interview with PEOPLE, referring to Rock’s daughters Lola, 21, and Zahra, 19.

At the time, Smith, 54, got up from his front row seat and stormed the stage to slap Rock, 58, in the face after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head while presenting an award that night.

Pinkett Smith’s shaved head was a result of her suffering from the hair-loss condition alopecia.

Smith, who went on to win Best Actor that same night for “King Richard,” walked back to his seat and shouted, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth” twice.

The “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” alum later apologized and resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

He’s also been banned from attending its events for the next 10 years.

In June, Pinkett Smith, 51, said on her “Red Table Talk” show that her “deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile.”

Rock, meanwhile, waited an entire year to address the incident during his Netflix comedy special titled “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage.”

During Netflix’s first-ever live broadcast, which was held at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore, Rock said he was “not a victim” and joked that it was like he got “smacked by Suge Smith.”

“Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face,” he told the crowd in February. “I got smacked at the f—king Oscars by this motherf—er. And people are like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts!”

He added: “You’ll never see me on Oprah or Gayle, crying. You will never see it. Never gonna happen.”
