Lindsay Shiver led ‘double life,’ didn’t hide affair: friend

The jailed mom-of-three accused of setting up a hit on her football player husband led a “double life” in the Bahamas and didn’t hide her affair with the man who police say plotted alongside her, The Post can reveal.

Lindsay Shiver, 36, portrayed herself as the perfect Southern belle housewife, with a flawless family and former Auburn football-player husband, Robert Shiver.

Now she remains jailed in the notorious Fox Hill prison on the island of Nassau after police busted her alleged plot to kill husband of 13 years. She has yet to post $100,000 bail in the case.

Sources said Alabama native Shiver, 36, started to change after making frequent trips to the island of Abaco, where the family has a second home, and beginning an affair with her co-accused, barman Terrance Adrien Bethel, 28.

Together they are said to have enlisted Faron Newbold to carry out the hit.

“She lived a double life — this Georgia housewife with the lovely kids and the Bahamas bad girl. She got caught up in something really bad. It’s sad,” a source told The Post Friday.

The friend said she suspected Shiver was having an affair and towards the end the housewife didn’t keep it a secret, especially once Robert filed for divorce, citing her infidelity.

“From the outside looking in it was all perfect,” the friend said. “But she was bored for a long time. Lindsay was a firecracker.”

After the divorce started to get nasty, Shiver’s plot was allegely hatched and she sent a picture of Robert with ‘kill him’ written on it, according to documents seen by DailyMail.com.

In her response to her husband’s filing, Shiver accused him of domestic abuse, including hitting her in front of their young sons, who are all under 12 years old.

Lindsay would openly spend time not only with Bethel, who works at a bar near the Shiver’s Bahamas home, but also his friends.

“I think she thought he was exciting, he was different,” the friend went on. “He’s a smooth guy, he likes to socialize with the tourists and the people with second homes here.”

Shiver was arrested last month after Bahamian police discovered her alleged plot while investigating a theft at the bar where Bethel worked and examining his phone.

The trio were caught on video walking through the local airport on their way to be jailed. Newbold smiled as he passed, while Bethel hid under the hood of a sweatshirt.

Both Bethel and Newbold are now free on bail after posting $20,000 bond, but have to wear electronic monitoring tags and report to Marsh Harbour police station three times a week.

Shiver appeared to be escorted by another person as she stood behind her alleged accomplices and stared straight ahead, seemingly embarrassed.

Shiver admitted to sending incriminating text messages, but later claimed she wasn’t serious about the assassination threat and that she was just venting in the midst of a bad divorce, a Bahamian police source told The Post.

“To be honest, I’m sure she fantasized about it as the divorce got nasty and she felt desperate, but it’s just hard to believe she would think she could get away with it,” a second friend told The Post. “I’m just really sad for those three kids, they’re wonderful.”

Shiver was a local pageant queen and former cheerleader who had three sons with the football star. She and Robert met in 2007 during a fitness class at Auburn University.

The pair called home a $2.5 million manse in Thomasville, Georgia.

Robert’s father’, Allen Shiver, was chief executive of billion-dollar baking company Flower Foods.

Robert, identified as executive vice president of Senior Life Insurance Company in Thomasville, is seeking sole custody of their sons.

Divorce records show he cut Shiver off from the family home in Baker’s Bay and barred her from using the family’s private jet during their divorce, proceedings for which are ongoing.
