Lindsay Shiver’s alleged Bahamas lover downplays plot to kill husband

Lindsay Shiver’s Bahamian boyfriend claims they were never serious about ordering a hit on the mother-of-three’s estranged husband, according to a new report.

Terrance Adrien Bethel, 28, claims police have pushed the narrative he and Shiver conspired to hire would-be killer Faron Newbold, 29, to murder Robert Shiver and it has been blown out of proportion.

“Everybody says things out of frustration,” Bethel told the Daily Mail about incriminating messages cops found on his phone.

“None of us have anything to hide. People are taking everything at face value and defaming us.”

Bethel has been charged in the alleged plot but released on $20,000 bail and ordered to wear a GPS ankle tag. He also claimed police have had both of his phones for three weeks but not been able to come up with anything else against him.

Meanwhile, accused hitman Newbold echoed Bethel’s claim, telling The Post Monday the case is not what it seems.

Wary of his newfound notoriety on the sleepy Bahamian island of Abaco, Newbold spoke nervously from behind the door of his small home with a new Mercedes SUV parked out front.

“Once everything is revealed you will understand why we aren’t saying anything right now,” he said. “There is more that is going to come out.”

Like Bethel, Newbold was also out on $20,000 bail with an ankle tag. Both men were also ordered to check in with local police three times a week. But unlike Newbold, who remained shut in his home, Bethel was out and about in Abaco.

While both men are out of prison, Shiver remains locked up at Nassau’s troubled Fox Hill Prison as she has yet to post her $100,000 bail.

Bethel also claims he was not the reason for the end of the Shivers’ 13-year marriage, appearing to contradict Robert, who highlighted his wife’s alleged infidelity as the reason for him filing for divorce in April.

“I love her. Everybody knows we are together. We are not hiding anything,” he told the Mail. “She’s a great mother. I have too much respect for her and her children to want to hurt their father.”

Police said that Lindsay Shiver had paid her alleged lover Terrance Bethel, 28, and Faron Newbold, 29, to carry out the act.

Bethel and Shiver caught police’s attention after an investigation over a burglary at a bar on Great Guana Cay. As part of that investigation, Bethel’s cell phone was seized and police uncovered the texts which detail the alleged plot to kill Robert, who owns a vacation home in the Bahamas.

Included in the phone was a message allegedly sent to Newbold containing a picture of Robert with “kill him” written on it.

Shiver admitted to sending incriminating text messages, but later claimed she wasn’t serious about the assassination threat and that she was just venting in the midst of a bad divorce, a Bahamian police source told The Post.

Before her arrest in July, Shiver was set to appear at a Georgia court for a deposition in her divorce proceedings, where she was expected to discuss her allegations of domestic abuse against Robert.

The divorce records show Robert wanted full custody of their three sons, as well as sole ownership of their vehicles and $2.5 million mansion in Thomasville, Georgia.

Robert is an executive vice president of Senior Life Insurance Company and a former Auburn football-player.

Shiver was a local pageant queen and former cheerleader who has three sons with the football star. She and Robert met in 2007 during a fitness class at Auburn University.

Lindsay, Bethel and Newbold are due to return to court on Oct. 5.
