Linn Grant sets return date after dazzling display in 2022 – but schedule limited by vaccination status

Rising star Linn Grant has finally confirmed when she will return to action following a stellar 2022 that saw her emerge as one of the brightest talents in global golf.

The Ladies European Tour No. 1, who made history last season as the first female winner on the DP World Tour at the co-sanctioned Scandinavian Mixed event in Sweden, took to her Instagram account to end speculation about her plans for the start of the year.

“Starting my season on [the] LET in Morocco,” the Swede revealed, “and will be playing both the Thailand and Singapore event[s] on the LPGA.”

Fans can now expect to see Grant tee it up on the LET at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco (February 9-11) before switching tours for the Honda LPGA in Thailand (February 23-26) and then the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore (March 2-5).

Many had been hoping she would build on her outstanding debut season on the LET, where she won a total four of times on her way to the Race to Costa Del Sol title, by switching her main focus to the LPGA where she has full status.

However, any plans to further her career on the LPGA tour are impacted by her current Covid vaccination status that prevents her from entering the United States.

She was unable to compete in the LPGA’s season-ending CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, Florida last November despite recording three top 10 finishes during the season at events in Japan, South Korea and Northern Ireland.

As a result, her LPGA appearances will continue to be limited to those events taking place outside of the US.

Grant, who has offered fans an insight into her preparations for the new season, is also highly likely to earn selection for this year’s Solheim Cup clash with the United States that will take place at Finca Cortesin in Spain.

The new LPGA season began last week with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando, Florida where Brooke Henderson took the title ahead of another Swede, Maja Stark, who finished as runner up to Grant on last year’s Race to Costa Del Sol rankings.

The 2023 Ladies European Tour begins at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open at Vipingo Ridge next month (February 2-5).
