Lisa Marie Presley Rushed to Hospital After Medical Emergency

Lisa Marie Presley, the singer-songwriter and only child of Elvis Presley, was taken to the hospital on Thursday after a medical emergency, according to her mother.

“She is now receiving the best care,” Priscilla Presley, her mother, said in a statement. “Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world, and ask for privacy during this time.”

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement on Thursday that it had responded to a call about a female in the Calabasas, Calif., who was “not breathing,” but did not further specify the person’s condition.

“Upon the deputies’ arrival, paramedics were performing CPR and assessing the patient’s status,” the authorities said. “They determined the patient had signs of life and immediately transported her to a local hospital for further medical care.”

The daughter of one of the most celebrated artists in history, Ms. Presley followed the career path of her father Elvis Presley, releasing three albums in which she set to distinguish her rock sound while also paying homage to the man who forever changed the American soundscape by blending blues, gospel, pop and country.

The enormous legacy of her father was a constant presence throughout her life. On Tuesday, she was again celebrating him at the Golden Globes, telling Extra TV that Austin Butler, the actor who portrayed Elvis in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic last year, had perfectly captured the essence of her father.

This is a developing story. It will be updated.
