Live news: Disney’s chief financial officer to step down for medical leave

Disney’s longtime chief financial officer Christine McCarthy is stepping down and will take a “family medical leave of absence”, the company said on Thursday. 

McCarthy, who has worked at Disney for decades, will stay on as an adviser to help with the succession process that weighs over the Hollywood giant. 

“She and I have discussed her desire to ensure an orderly and successful CFO succession in advance of the company’s transition to its next chief executive officer”, said chief executive Bob Iger. 

Kevin Lansberry, an executive at Disney’s parks business, will take over in the interim as the company searches for a permanent CFO, the group said on Thursday.
