Liverpool and Chelsea in chase for £132 million AC Milan forward Rafael Leao – Paper Round

PL sides keen on Leao

The Mirror reports that AC Milian forward is attracting interest from both Liverpool and Chelsea, and with 18 months left on his contract, they are weighing up meeting his hefty release clause.

The paper writes: “Leao has been linked with a transfer away from Milan following a brilliant start to the season with the Italian club. The 23-year-old forward has contributed nine goals and 10 assists in 32 appearances so far in the 2022/23 season, attracting attention from Premier League sides including Liverpool and Chelsea.

“Liverpool are considering a move in the summer transfer window, with Leao into the final 18 months of his contract. The Reds would even be willing to include Luis Diaz in a swap deal to lower Leao’s asking price.

“If Premier League sides do bid for his services in the summer, they won’t come cheap. Italian outlets have reported that he has a €150m (£131.9m) release clause written into his contract, which currently runs until June 2024.”

Atletico ready to sell Felix

Joao Felix was struggling at Atletico Madrid and it appears that he will not have an easy way back to the Wanda Metropolitano even if Chelsea do not want him.

The Portuguese forward is reportedly so unpopular back at his parent club that he is only in contact with two of his former team-mates, and that may make Chelsea’s plans to keep him easier to complete.

“Felix joined the Blues on loan in January from the LaLiga giants,” the Sun reports.

“The forward has impressed in his short time at the club, scoring in the 1-1 draw at West Ham last month.

“Felix himself recently hinted that he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge when his loan deal expires at the end of the campaign.

“And his chances of joining Chelsea have been boosted following reports that Felix’s Atletico team-mates are “sick to the teeth of him”.”

Barcelona target wants Real

Israeli international Oscar Gloukh was wanted by Barcelona but the Spanish side missed out on him, and now the RB Salzburg player has expressed a target to join Real Madrid instead.

Spanish newspaper Marca explains: “Gloukh’s signing cost the Austrian side around 7 million euros and the player admits that although he was excited about the interest from Xavi’s side, he made the best decision for his future: ‘Barcelona agreed when we had already closed the deal with Salzburg.

“’It was the best option for me and we did it. In the end, it’s clear to me that we made the right decision to go to them and not to Barcelona. It makes more sense as a player.

“‘The crowning moment will be to arrive at Real Madrid’”

Tierney could make Newcastle switch

After initially holding down a first-team spot under Mikel A, Oleksdandr ZInchenko’s arrival has kept Kieran Tieney on the sidelines at the Emirates for much of the season so far.

The Mail believes that he could make a departure in the summer in the pursuit of first-team football.

“Newcastle could make a move for the left-back and suggest Tierney’s name ‘has been put to the club by representatives,’ the paper states.

“Despite having been at the club since 2019 following a £25m move from Celtic, the Scotland international has tumbled down Mikel Arteta’s pecking order lately.

“During his time in north London, Tierney has made 112 appearances for the club yielding five goals and 37 assists.

“Yet this season, he has made just 25 appearances, sixteen of those have been in the Premier League, with the Scotland international managing a meagre four league starts.”
