Liverpool target Alexis Mac Allister swoop and wait for Mason Mount go-ahead – Paper Round

Liverpool keen on Mac Allister

Liverpool could spend £120 million on two midfield signings this summer.

The Mirror reports that Alexis Mac Allister and Mason Mount are both wanted by Jurgen Klopp in the upcoming transfer window, but neither player will come cheap.

Lampard ‘not happy’ with ‘too slow’ Chelsea after draw with Forest

The paper states: “Liverpool are ready to end the race for World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister with a £70million deal for the Brighton midfielder.

“Manchester United and Arsenal are interested, but the 24-year-old Argentina star is believed to be ready to commit his future to Liverpool. Talks are a long way down the line, as are negotiations for 37-year-old James Milner to leave Anfield after eight years for Brighton on a free transfer.

“Liverpool are also favourites to sign England midfielder Mason Mount for around £50m, but the deal for the 24-year-old depends on the green light being given by incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino.”

Chelsea set to appoint Pochettino

Chelsea have finally found their replacement manager as Frank Lampard struggles to turn things around at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard took over from Graham Potter, who disappointed when he took over from Thomas Tuchel earlier in the season, but former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is now ready to step in, reports the Telegraph.

The paper claims: “Chelsea have agreed terms with Mauricio Pochettino to take over as head coach.

“The Argentine is expected to sign his contract in the coming days with the London club expected to announce the deal early next week.”

Arsenal set sights on Simakan

The Sun reports that Arsenal are looking at RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan, with the Londoners keen to improve their defensive options for next season.

Another candidate to be brought in is Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

“ARSENAL are reportedly interested in defender Mohamed Simakan – despite the star recently signing a long-term deal,” the paper writes.

“The Gunners enter the final games of this season with huge injury issues across their backline after William Saliba and Oleksandr Zinchenko were ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

“The club are believed to be keen to strengthen defensively during the summer and have been linked to many names, including Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

“Tall RB Leipzig defender Simakan is reportedly also on the shortlist.

“But the club could have a real fight on their hands to secure Simakan after he signed a five-year deal in December.”

Mourinho keen on PSG switch

With Cristophe Galtier not assured of starting next season as Paris Saint-Germain manager, the Mail suggests that Joe Mourinho could be tempted.

The paper suggests he is not content with life as Roma manager.

The report explains: “Among the various doubts currently hanging over his stay in Rome, Mourinho is certainly feeling under-appreciated for his great work as a coach with regards to the growth of young talents.

“Mourinho’s Roma contract expires in June 2024 and at the moment the chances of a renewal are zero.

“In France, he would finally have another top team like at Inter Milan, Chelsea and Real Madrid and there would be no technical management problems for the team.

“At PSG, Mourinho would have a stellar team, exceptional players and a very strong club on a political as well as a technical level.”
