‘Lonely’ Japanese woman makes 2,761 fake emergency calls

A lonely and jobless Japanese woman reportedly bombarded first responders with 2,761 fake calls for help — just to get some attention.

​Hiroko Hatagami, 51, of Matsudo, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of obstructing operations of the local fire department, The Mainichi reported.

The needy nuisance told investigators she kept ringing up emergency services because “​I was lonely and wanted someone to listen to me and give me attention,” according to the outlet.

The myriad calls to the ​Matsudo Fire Department between Aug.15, 2020, and May 25 reportedly included bogus declarations that “​​I have a stomachache,” “I took a large dose of medicine” and “My legs hurt.”

​When ambulances arrived, the serial complainer turned them away with responses like, “I don’t want to take an ambulance” and “I didn’t make the call,” The Mainichi said.

Police and fire officials warned Hatagami on a number of occasions to stop calling and wasting their resources, but she kept at it until a formal report was filed — and she was arrested, the outlet reported.

In 2013, another Japanese woman was arrested for a similarly disturbing need for attention. In that case, a 44-year-old woman called cops more than 15,000 times over a six-month period, AFP reported.

​”She made as many as 927 emergency calls in one day….disturbing our police duties,” said an official in the city of Sakai.

​The woman was charged with fraudulent obstruction of police business.
