Louisiana woman Dawn Coleman pleads guilty for role in death of 5-year-old Cairo Jordan, whose body was found in suitcase
A woman involved in the murder of a 5-year-old boy whose body was found stuffed inside a suitcase in Indiana woods last year has pleaded guilty to her role in the grisly crime.
Louisiana native Dawn Elaine Coleman pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder this month after authorities said she and the boy’s mother, Dejuane Ludie Anderson, were behind Cairo Jordan’s death, the Courier Journal reported.
Anderson, an Atlanta native, is still on the lam.
The disturbing case began in April 2022 when a mushroom hunter discovered a suitcase that had “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada” written across it.
The child found inside died from dehydration, police previously said.
Jordan was identified six months after the discovery.
Details of the plea agreement reached between Coleman and prosecutors were not immediately clear. Her sentencing is set for Nov. 21, the Courier Journal reported.
Authorities are still seeking the mother, who is facing murder charges.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Carey Huls said in April police believe Anderson is out west, possibly in Los Angeles or Las Vegas, the newspaper reported.
Before the boy’s death, his mother allegedly made Facebook posts about him being demonic and needing to be exorcised.
