Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon releases debut single ‘Lock&Key’
Meet the “Material Girl” 2.0.
Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, released her debut musical single Wednesday — following in the footsteps of her pop queen mom with a synth-heavy dance party anthem.
The 25-year-old songstress dropped the dreamy, trip-hop tune “Lock&Key” under the stage name Lolahol, along with a steamy music video set in spots around New York City.
In the video, the singer is seen writhing on the hood of an SUV, striking a pose in sparkly silver nipple pasties and rubbing the chest of a clean-cut beefcake in a cemetery.
Near the end, she’s shown doing splits on a beach while wearing only a tangle of ropes and a fishing net around her waist.
Leon, who is also a model, has previously said she has no interest in the music industry because it’s too much like her “Vogue” superstar mother’s career path.
“As for music, I can sing. I just don’t care about it. Maybe it’s too close to home,” she told Interview magazine last year.
But she apparently changed her tune, teaming up on the song with the experimental artist Eartheater and composer Samuel Burgess.
Leon, who is Madonna’s daughter with Cuban-born dancer and fitness trainer Carlos Leon, also told the magazine at the time she was more drawn to dance than music.
“I dance, I have a very specific sense of style, and I’m interested in aesthetics, so I like to incorporate all those parts of myself into my projects,” she said.
“I want to create a world in which models have more agency over what they’re doing, and they’re not just silent clothing racks. That’s the age that we’re coming into in the fashion world: models as personalities and artists,” she said.
