Madonna’s sons seen visiting bedridden mom amid reports of late-night rehearsals

Madonna’s sons, Rocco Ritchie and David Banda, were seen rallying around their ailing mom at her NYC apartment amid reports of late-night rehearsals before her hospitalization.

The “Material Girl” singer was hospitalized earlier this week after being found unresponsive and was in the intensive care unit with a serious bacterial infection for several days.

It’s been reported that she is still severely ill and bedridden since being released from the hospital.

Ritchie — whom Madonna, 64, had with ex-husband Guy Ritchie, 54 — was spotted early Friday morning outside his mother’s Upper East Side townhouse, wearing black slacks, loafers and carrying a backpack. Banda, who was adopted by Madonna and Guy, was photographed getting into an SUV outside the apartment a few hours later.

Both sons returned later in the afternoon as well.

The singer’s oldest daughter, Lourdes Leon, 26, was reportedly by her superstar mother’s bedside throughout the entire hospital stay.

The visits to the ill pop star come amid reports that Madonna spent many late nights rehearsing for her upcoming “Celebration” tour.

Prior to the infection, the “Like a Prayer” singer was “doing well and feeling good in her rehearsals” — and sometimes staying up as late as 3:30 a.m. to make sure everything was perfect for her tour, a source told Entertainment Tonight.

“She is a night person and normally sleeps during the day and then gets to work at night,” the source said. “She was starting around 5 p.m. and then could sometimes wrap everything around 3:30 a.m. Her kids David and Mercy were around during some rehearsals.”

Doctors shared that the demanding schedule and preparation of rehearsal could have exacerbated her condition, wearing down her immune system and making her vulnerable to infection.

“Exhaustion, certainly when you are run-down, can be an issue,” Dr. Thomas Moore, an infectious diseases expert at the University of Kansas, told the Daily Mail. “It is generally true that if you are very run-down and not getting enough rest, your immune system can be challenged.”

He added, “Say your immune system is challenged [by a bacteria], if you have been working too hard, this makes it more difficult for it to respond and insults arise.”

Dr. Stuart Fischer, an emergency-room doctor in New York City, told the Daily Mail that stress also could’ve weakened Madonna’s immune system.

“Stress is immunosuppressive. Her stress is from going on tour and fans waiting to see her. This could have an impact,” Fischer said.

Madonna’s family feared they “may lose her” when they found her unresponsive.

“For the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn, and her family was preparing for the worst,” an unidentified family member told the Daily Mail.

“Everyone believed that we may lose her and that has been the reality of the situation,” the relative said.

On Wednesday, the Queen of Pop’s manager Guy Oseary posted an update to Instagram, sharing that Madonna was “improving” and is expected to make a full recovery, but she is still currently under medical care.

He added that Madonna would be pausing all commitments — tour included. The “Celebration” tour was originally slated to kick off in Vancouver, British Columbia, on July 15, but now there will be a new start date as well as new dates for rescheduled shows.
