Man had 4-inch nail lodged in bladder — for an entire year
It was like finding a needle in a pee sack.
Surgeons in India were flabbergasted after learning that a man’s bladder pain was caused by a 4-inch nail that had been lodged there — for a whole year.
The wince-worthy saga began after the patient began experiencing excruciating pain in his pee pouch, Jam Press reported.
Alarmed, he reported to India’s District Hospital Bhind, where his concerned surgeon, Dr. Prateek Mishra, ordered blood tests, as well as an ultrasound and X-rays to see what was amiss.
To the horror of everyone involved, scans revealed a long nail sitting in the patient’s bladder.
Unfortunately, it’s not known how the iron spike infiltrated the man’s system. However, even though he couldn’t afford medical care, surgeons decided to remove the metal interloper to relieve his suffering once and for all.
The operation took nearly an hour in what the hospital described as a “first.” Fortunately, he has since reportedly experienced a full recovery.
This isn’t the first time a foreign object has ended up in an unlikely orifice. In May, a Missouri doctor redefined bumming money after discovering a dime impossibly lodged “way up” a patient’s bottom during a rectal exam.
Meanwhile, doctors diagnosed a Tunisian woman with a urinary tract infection in March, only to discover that she had a shot glass lodged in her bladder. She had reportedly used the drinking vessel as a sex toy four years ago and didn’t have the problem checked out until much later.
